Blow molding is a manufacturing process that is used when creating hollow objects made from hard plastic. Like other plastic molding processes, heat is used to liquefy materials that are then forced into a mold cavity. The process of blow molding is like that of glassblowing.
There are two common types of blow molding, which includes injection and extrusion molding. Extrusion blow molding, also known as EBM, extrudes heated plastic into a customized parison. With this molding process, custom cases can be made quickly and in large volumes. Injection molding is also referred to as injection stretch blow molding, and it uses either one or two stages. Injection blow molding is effective and affordable, but it is not as customizable as extrusion blow molding.
Both methods of forming plastic are similar, but they are not the same. They both force heated materials into a mold, but blow molding creates hollow objects, and injection molding creates solid objects.
Custom cases are made through the blow molding process because solid and uniform cases are strong and reliable. Before creating a case, a mold is shaped to exact specifications (depending on what is being carried). After the case is formed, custom foam inserts are chosen, designed, and affixed to the inside of the case. Custom cases are made in different colors to meet your branding and aesthetic demands. For heavy and large cases, wheels and handles can be added to the design.
Regardless of your carrying case needs, our talented team can help you design and build blow molded carrying cases.
