One of the main benefits of a plastic carrying case with foam is that it is highly customizable. Blow molded cases are highly customizable because plastic fills a custom mold and leaves a hollow case during the manufacturing process. Custom molds are constructed based on the needs of individual clients. Therefore, cases can be constructed to meet your carrying needs if you are carrying something small or large.
Once the mold is constructed, plastic carrying cases are further customized by the addition of foam inserts. When adding foam, there are many things to consider, such as the material, amount, and cut-out locations.
There are two main types of foam, which include:
Polyethylene – this material is dense and is ideal for heavy objects. This material is often used when transporting computers and firearms. The material can only absorb a modest amount of shock, which means that you should not carry delicate or fragile items with this material. It is important to note that the material comes in two forms: Anti-Static and Solid.
Polyurethane – this material is softer than polyethylene, but it is still durable. The material is used to carry delicate objects that are likely to break on impact. The material is also great for irregularly shaped objects such as camera lenses and crystal stemware. The material is further broken down into subcategories, such as solid, convoluted, dice, and anti-static.
